Antler coral
Antler Coral (Pocillopora grandis) is the only tall branching hermatypic coral that is common in Hawaii. This makes it one of the most conspicuous coral species when scuba diving there. Numerous fish and invertebrate species use this coral as refuge habitat thus giving it special ecological importance to the reef community. This gallery illustrates its variable antler branch morphology mirroring the variability in form of the namesake found among members of the deer family.
