Chinook Salmon
The Chinook Salmon is the largest and least common of the five Pacific salmon species found in Alaska. Chinook Salmon can exceed 100 pounds in weight (> 40kg) and reach lengths approaching five feet (1.5 m). The scientific name for Chinook Salmon is Oncorhynchus tshawytscha. In Alaska, Chinook Salmon are more commonly known as king salmon.
